Galliford Try is seeking a Process Principal Design Engineer (Drinking Water Biased) to lead multidisciplinary design delivery across UK water projects. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with H&S and CDM requirements while coordinating with client teams and supply chain.
The role emphasizes governance, innovation, and staff development within a leading Tier 1 contractor with a strong water portfolio.
Qualifications
- Educated to Degree level in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Strong preference for Chartered Member of a recognised professional Engineering body.
- Experience in contracting/consulting environment with commercial awareness.
- Expert in multi-disciplinary engineering design in water engineering.
- Expert with checking & approving discipline design packages.
- Knowledge of current H&S legislation and British Standards and applying them across designs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure technical compliance and excellence on projects; act as design approver.
- Drive efficient designs balancing capital and operational costs.
- Assist or lead as Principal Designer for CDM compliance.
- Ensure buildability, safe construction and operation within contracts.
- Provide governance and support to procurement, site activities and knowledge sharing.
- Mentor staff and support accreditation with professional bodies.
