Role: Water Network Technician / Leakage Inspector

Location: Field-Based Dorset/Wiltshire/Somerset

Salary: £27,348 to £32,515 dependent on experience with overtime opportunities

Role Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday plus telephone stand-by rota

As part of our essential front-line operations, you'll join a collaborative and dynamic team responsible for ensuring our networks operate efficiently. Your role will focus on reducing water charges by monitoring, detecting leaks, and minimizing water loss using various leakage detection methods. You will leverage your industry experience to identify improvement areas and work collaboratively across the business.

This is a field-based role mainly within Dorset, Somerset, and Wiltshire, where you'll work both independently and as part of a team.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Accounting for 100% of water supply on each site and identifying leakage events
• Carrying out reactive and proactive leak detection on MOD sites and monitoring leakage systems
• Recording site data and providing feedback to the demand management team
• Installing and maintaining flow and pressure data logging equipment
• Conducting detailed on-site investigations to ensure data accuracy
• Escalating risks such as water quality issues, supply risks, or H&S concerns

What You’ll Bring

• Knowledge of water supply configurations and hydraulics using site plans and schematics
• Experience with leakage detection equipment like correlators, ground-mics, acoustic logging, etc.
• Technical expertise in consumption and leakage accounting methods
• Knowledge of testing fire hydrants and configuring pressure and flow loggers (training provided)
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and mobile IT skills
• Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Understanding of health and safety in industrial settings
• Commercial awareness regarding cost impacts
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions

About You

Due to site requirements, the successful candidate must:

• Meet security clearance requirements, including residency in the UK for the past 5 years
• Obtain Security Clearance, involving a Criminal Record Check and MoD Security Application
• Hold a full, valid driving license and be comfortable driving a company van
