Job summary

Granite Recruitment Ltd in Scotland is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to strengthen its water team across Scotland and the UK. This permanent role focuses on delivering a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure projects, leading technical design, and working closely with clients and multi-disciplinary teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive technical excellence, and assume responsibility for delivering wastewater, SuDS, and water treatment schemes from concept to delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered status or working towards Chartership with ICE or CIWEM.
• Experience in water and wastewater sector.
• Experience delivering wastewater infrastructure projects (sewer flooding, pollution, drainage or surface water).
• Knowledge of SuDS and/or Surface Water Management.
• Strong client-facing experience and ability to lead discussions with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical work within project teams and develop practical, innovative solutions.
• Mentor and support junior engineers.
• Contribute to technical excellence across the team.
• Deliver major infrastructure programmes within the water sector.
