Job summary

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Estates is expanding its national water safety function and is seeking a Legionella & Water Hygiene Subject Matter Expert (SME) to work across a UK-wide estate. The post holder will provide national technical leadership, oversight and assurance across BAU water hygiene activities, WRAs and compliance evidence.

You will collaborate with a fellow SME, liaise with FM contractors and specialists, and act as an Estates Responsible Person for Water Safety.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering national water safety management and assurance.
• Ability to interpret Water Risk Assessments and Written Schemes of Control.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for governance packs.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent technical assurance for Legionella controls across the national estate.
• Lead BAU technical activity and oversight of water hygiene contractors.
• Review WRAs, Written Schemes of Control and CAFM evidence for compliance.
• Collaborate with asset management, compliance and operations to improve safety.
• Prepare risk-based recommendations and escalation where needed.
