Job summary

Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Estates is expanding its national water safety function and is seeking a Legionella & Water Hygiene Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead BAU technical activity across the UK estate. You will work with a fellow SME, supplying independent assurance, technical oversight and governance across WRAs, Written Schemes of Control and compliance evidence.

Working with the FM contractor and specialist providers, you will translate risk into proportionate controls,

Qualifications

• Experience in Legionella risk management across a national estate.
• Knowledge of Water Safety legislation and ACOP L8/HSG274.
• Ability to review WRAs and Written Schemes of Control and provide evidence-based assurance.

Responsibilities

• Act as DWP Estates Responsible Person for Water Safety.
• Provide national technical oversight of water hygiene controls across multi-site estate.
• Review WRAs, Written Schemes of Control and compliance evidence.
• Lead collaboration with FM contractor, providers and asset teams.
• Translate performance data into national risk narratives and governance packs.
• Support governance through reporting, escalation and risk-based recommendations.
