Job summary

Natural Resources Wales is seeking an Environment Officer to help protect and improve the water environment across North Powys. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, providing technical expertise in environmental management, compliance, water quality investigations and sustainable water resource management.

You will carry out regulatory duties under environmental legislation, respond to incidents, and collaborate with farmers, businesses and communities to deliver practical

Qualifications

  • Experience in environment management or related field with regulatory exposure.
  • Familiar with biodiversity, water quality and protected sites.
  • Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and engage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Work with permit holders, landowners and organisations to enable sustainable management of natural resources.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships to support project delivery from concept to implementation.
  • Assess compliance with legislation and enforcement where needed to achieve rapid return to compliance.
  • Draft consents and provide advice and reports to support decisions and inquiries.
  • Provide local professional advice to planning and permitting teams and maintain liaison.
  • Monitor progress, manage contractors, and support remedial actions to meet outcomes.
  • Contribute to NRW Incident Management Service for timely, safe responses to incidents.
  • Fulfill health and safety duties and contribute to NRW Equal Opportunities policy.
