Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking an early‑career Civil Design Engineer to join our water consultancy client in a hybrid role based near Farringdon. You will contribute to feasibility through to detailed design on water and wastewater projects, collaborating with project managers and multi‑disciplinary teams.

You will develop technical capability, progress toward chartership, and support delivery within budget and schedule while applying UK standards and industry practices.

Qualifications

• Early‑career civil engineer with a passion for water and infrastructure projects.
• 2+ years' experience in civil engineering design, ideally within water and/or industrial sectors.
• Exposure to water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or related infrastructure.
• Experience preparing and checking high‑quality calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of British Standards and water industry standards.
• Familiarity with industry‑standard analysis and design software.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering design from feasibility through to detailed design.
• Prepare supporting design calculations, technical notes and reports.
• Coordinate and manage the preparation of technical drawings.
• Support delivery of projects to agreed programme, budget and quality targets.
• Take responsibility for smaller projects or defined elements of larger schemes.
• Assist with day‑to‑day financial and commercial management of engineering commissions.
• Apply relevant British Standards, water industry standards and GHD procedures.
• Work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary design teams.
• Share knowledge and support the development of junior team members.
