Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers is seeking an early‑career Civil Design Engineer to join our water consultancy client in a hybrid role based near Farringdon. You will contribute to feasibility through to detailed design on water and wastewater projects, collaborating with project managers and multi‑disciplinary teams.

You will develop technical capability, progress toward chartership, and support delivery within budget and schedule while applying UK standards and industry practices.

Qualifications

• Early‑career civil engineer with a passion for water and infrastructure projects.
• 2+ years' experience in civil engineering design, ideally within water and/or industrial sectors.
• Exposure to water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or related infrastructure.
• Experience preparing and checking high‑quality calculations, drawings and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of British Standards and water industry standards.
• Familiarity with industry‑standard analysis and design software.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach.

Responsibilities

Job description

Our Water consultancy client is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to be based out of their Farringdon office on a permanent basis with hybrid working. You will be contributing to the delivery of high‑quality infrastructure and treatment projects across water and wastewater. You'll support the delivery of projects from feasibility through to detailed design, working alongside experienced engineers and multi‑disciplinary teams. You'll be involved in a wide variety of civil and structural design activities and will have clear opportunities to develop your technical capability, project experience and progress towards chartership. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Design Managers and Technical Leads to help deliver projects safely, efficiently and to a high technical standard.

Key responsibilities

Skills/experience/qualifications

• You'll be an early‑career civil engineer with a passion for water and infrastructure projects and a desire to grow your technical and professional capabilities within a supportive consultancy environment.
• 2+ years' experience in civil engineering design, ideally within water and/or industrial sectors
• Exposure to projects such as water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or related infrastructure
• Experience preparing and checking high‑quality calculations, drawings and technical documentation
• Working knowledge of British Standards and water industry standards
• Familiarity with industry‑standard analysis and design software
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach
• Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
• Working towards (or interested in attaining) Chartered Engineer (ICE) status
• Exposure to design & build project environments
