Job description

Our Water innovation client is recruiting for a Business Development Manager or Head of Business Development in the Water Sector, covering the UK with a base in Burntwood.

The role will be primarily based in the UK or Ireland, with travel to potential clients in both countries and potentially other countries over time.

The Business Development Manager/Head of BD will report to the General Manager or as directed by the Group Managing Director. They will lead and manage Business Development and Sales as the business expands, responsible for creating greater sales, generating sustainable profits, and designing a definitive product offering.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead the expansion of the company by generating sales in the UK, Ireland, and globally. Develop and review the business development and sales strategy annually.
  2. Collaborate with the Marketing team to produce a matching marketing plan to support the sales strategy.
  3. Develop relationships with supply chain partners (products/services) and customers.
  4. Stay informed of emerging industry trends and technologies.
  5. Supervise, lead, and mentor staff as required.
  6. Work with the Design and Delivery Departments to incorporate products into projects.
  7. Assist the Commercial Department in managing budgets, project commercials, and profitability.
  8. Attend meetings (Engineering, progress, etc.) and produce monthly sales reports.
  9. Travel and attend foreign and domestic conferences and tradeshows.
  10. Perform other duties as required by the General Manager.
Experience and Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or related field, with suitable experience.
  2. Strong understanding of regulatory aspects within the water and wastewater industry.
  3. Experience working within the UK Water Sector.
  4. Proven track record in delivering sales and profits.
  5. Experience in generating sales or growing businesses.
  6. Ability to manage multiple assignments effectively.
  7. Excellent time management and communication skills.
  8. Strong oral and written reporting skills.
  9. Understanding of quality, environmental, and safety management systems.
  10. Good people skills and a team player.
  11. Full clean UK/Irish driving license.
  12. Salary circa £80k-£100k, negotiable.
  13. Performance or goal-related package elements may be included.
