Job Description

A Wastewater Treatment Technician treats bulk hazardous & non-hazardous waste waters, in accordance with environmentally responsible and cost-effective ESOL policies, practices and procedures. Job requires maintenance of records, accuracy and attention to detail, the ability to follow instruction and to work independently once proper training provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Process and treat hazardous & non-hazardous waste waters using various reagents
2. Attach hoses to the tanker trucks
3. Load and unload materials from tanker trucks
4. Conduct Tanker washouts as needed
5. Run the filtration systems – Filter press, drum vacuum press, and various pumps
6. Daily record keeping and maintenance of various record logs and data
7. Track information in the WNS program
8. Perform general housekeeping and clean up duties as needed
9. Manage equipment and conduct minor pump maintenance and repairs as needed
10. Perform related work and additional duties as requested/assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

Experience, Knowledge, and Education Requirements:

Education and Technical Requirements

1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED), but college degree in Chemistry, Environmental or related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
2. Relevant work experience of 2+ years working with wastewater treatment preferred
3. Knowledge in hazardous waste and wastewater treatment preferred
4. Demonstrates strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
5. Demonstrates the ability to wear PPE properly and sustain a steady work pace over an entire shift.
6. Demonstrates the ability to complete various paperwork requirements properly.
7. Demonstrates the ability to perform functions safely and productively and according to established policies and procedures.

Communication and Leadership Skills

1. Solid communication and problem-solving skills
2. Self-directed with the ability to work on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to work in a busy, often distracting work environment, both indoors and outdoors.
2. Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions and tolerate extreme heat and cold. Temperatures can be below 32 degrees F for period of more than one hour.
3. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted on a normal basis
4. Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
5. Must be able to climb ladders
