Job summary

United Living Group in Wakefield is seeking an experienced manager to provide operational and mentoring support across wastewater projects around £1m, guiding multi‑disciplinary civils and construction sites. You will develop and maintain client and supplier relationships, identify opportunities in planning and delivery, and ensure contracts are delivered safely, on time and to the agreed quality and cost.

Qualifications

  • CSCS/ IOSH/ CPCS or equivalent qualifications.
  • SMSTS qualification (2yrs experience).
  • Knowledge/experience of temporary works tasks and registers.
  • Knowledge/experience of lift operations.
  • Knowledge/experience of deep excavations and shaft construction.
  • Knowledge of current CDM regulations.
  • Excellent keyboard skills MS Office 365 including MS Project.
  • Full UK Driving license.
  • Practical, logical, adaptable and able to remain calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects and contracts; ensure financial and commercial requirements.
  • Deliver the service to clients as project opportunities arise.
  • Ensure contracts are delivered incident-free, to a compliant quality within programme and cost.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and satisfaction levels.
  • Promote and drive a proactive safety culture on all projects and contracts to zero harm.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with key manufacturers and designers.
  • Manage site teams through the delivery lifecycle (installation and commissioning).
  • Maintain project tools such as risk registers, programmes and ITPs.
  • Report progress including supply chain and third-party suppliers.
  • Identify, mitigate and manage project risks.

Job Description

This managerial role is designed to provide operational and mentoring support to projects and colleagues alike within the United Infrastructure Group. The role would benefit from a person with 2 year's experience in wastewater industry projects with a value of circa £1m, managing multiple multi-disciplined civils and construction sites. Key challenges will be to identify opportunities in project planning and delivery whilst developing and maintaining client and key supplier relationships. Ensuring contracts are delivered, safely and to the agreed quality standard within the parameters of the project programme and cost plan. The role will support and underpin the Yorkshire Water AMP8 capital delivery projects management team lead.

Overview of Responsibilities
  • Responsible for managing engineering projects and contracts; ensuring that all projects meet company financial and commercial requirements
  • Deliver the service to clients as project opportunities are presented
  • Ensure all engineering contracts are delivered, incident free, to a compliant quality standard, within the constraints of the project programme and cost plan
  • Proactively develop and maintain strong client relationships and customer satisfaction levels
  • Promote and drive a proactive safety culture on all projects and contracts to drive for a zero harm target
  • Proactively develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key manufacturers and designers
  • Manage the site teams throughout the delivery lifecycle (installation and commissioning)
  • Maintain the key project management tools such as, risk registers, project programmes and inspection and test plans
  • Management and progress reporting of the project including supply chain (sub-contractors, agency labour provision and other third party suppliers)
  • Identification, mitigation and management of the risks associated with the project
Qualifications
  • Relevant industry skills card or qualifications (CSCS/ IOSH/ CPCS)
  • SMSTS qualification (2yrs experience)
  • Knowledge or experience of temporary works tasks and registers
  • Knowledge or experience of lift operations
  • Knowledge or experience of deep excavations and shaft construction
  • Knowledge of the current CDM regulations
  • Excellent keyboard skills proficient in MS Office 365 including MS Project
  • Full UK Driving license
  • Practical, logical, adaptable and an ability to remain calm under pressure
