Job summary

Southern Water is seeking a Process Scientist to provide technical support across wastewater, sludge treatment, waste management and R&D. You will monitor and operate wastewater treatment processes, set site Operating Plans and optimize chemicals and energy use while ensuring compliance.

Qualifications

• Degree in relevant scientific discipline is desirable.
• A Levels, HND or first degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline.
• Wastewater treatment experience preferable but not essential.
• Stand-by rota may be required.

Responsibilities

• Implement operating methods to ensure final effluent compliance at the WTW and optimise resources.
• Review compliance risks and support capex investment.
• Investigate pollution incidents and coordinate with regulators to protect the environment.
• Prepare site investigation reports or process audits with recommendations.
• Analyse wastewater trends and pre-empt potential process issues.
• Provide technical expertise to colleagues and on-site contractors.
