Job summary

Southern Water in Aylesford, Kent, is seeking a Wastewater Process Operator to help run wastewater treatment works and pumping stations. No prior water industry experience is required, and training will be provided. You will handle compliance, maintenance, and data reporting while contributing to environmental protection.

The role involves a 38-hour week with a 7-day rota and standby schedule; relocation/travel to nearby sites may be needed. A company van and other benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Willing to travel across multiple sites across Kent
• No prior water industry experience required
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Compliance testing and monitoring
• Maintenance tasks including unblocking pumps, screens, and valves
• Repair of alarm systems and fault resolution
• Monitoring, collating, and reporting data for regulatory compliance
• Carrying out regular sampling and maintaining sampling equipment
• Receiving and handling chemical deliveries safely
• Using IT systems to log maintenance tasks and ensure safety compliance
