Job summary

Tetra Tech Europe is seeking a Water Quality Sampling Technician to join a field team operating around Bedford. You will collect wastewater samples, transport them to the lab, and manage paperwork.

Training, PPE and a company smartphone are provided, with typical hours 06:00–16:00, Monday to Thursday. Initial responsibilities include complying with risk assessments, recording data accurately, and liaising with laboratory staff to ensure samples meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence required.
• Willingness to work outdoors and follow safe systems of work.
• Desirable: prior field sampling or utilities experience, confined-space training, or relevant vocational qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Collect wastewater samples from rivers, premises, treatment works and sewer networks as part of a two-person field team.
• Transport refrigerated samples to the laboratory and complete chain-of-custody documentation.
• Follow risk assessments and liaise with operations staff to ensure timely, compliant sample collection.
• Develop sampling skills and route planning to increase daily coverage over 6–12 months.
