Job summary

Biffa is hiring a Transfer Station Supervisor in Milton Keynes to oversee the day-to-day operation of a busy recycling and transfer station. You will lead a small team, ensure safety and compliance with health and safety legislation, and maintain high operational standards while delivering reliable site performance.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or team leader experience in waste management or similar operational environment.
• Good knowledge of health and safety legislation; promote safe working practices.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; prioritise workloads and lead a team.
• Experience using basic IT systems for records and operational reporting.
• Proactive, hands-on approach with commitment to delivering operational and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small team, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Oversee the daily operation of the recycling and transfer station, maintaining productivity and site performance.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture by carrying out inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
• Manage contractors on site, ensuring all permit requirements, site rules and safe systems of work are followed.
• Maintain accurate operational records, report incidents and near misses, and complete all required documentation.
• Liaise with customers, drivers and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth and compliant running of the site.
