Job summary

Warwickshire County Council is seeking a full-time Supervisor for the Princes Drive Recycling Centre and Transfer Station in Leamington Spa. The role involves supervising staff delivering customer service at the public recycling site, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations, including machinery oversight.

You will work on a 7-day rota, with pay up to £18.04 per hour and enhancements on certain shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team providing customer service at the Recycling Centre.

• Ensure Duty of Care and other legislative obligations are met and provision of containers for recycling and disposal.
• Oversee safe operation and maintenance of plant machinery.
• Cover for Site Supervisors on other sites as needed.

Job description

Warwickshire County Council are seeking a full time Supervisor to join the team at Princes Drive Recycling Centre and Transfer Station in Leamington Spa.

Rate of pay: Up to £18.04 per hour. Pay enhancements are available on certain shifts

Hours of work: Full time on a 7-day rota

We manage a variety of waste and recyclable materials for Waste Collection Authorities (WCA’s) households and businesses, right across the County. We are committed to building a first-class talented workforce, so that we can offer the very best service to our customers.

The Role

• As the Transfer Station Supervisor, you will supervise a team of staff who will provide excellent customer service to members of the public bringing their items to the recycling centre.
• You will motivate the team to ensure that the WTS (Waste Transfer Station) and HWRC (Household Waste Recycling Centre) is run in a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant manner.
• You will be responsible for ensuring the site meets all Duty of Care and other legislative requirements and that there is adequate provision of containers to allow the public to safely recycle and dispose of their items.
• The Transfer Station Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring plant machinery is appropriately operated and maintained.
• You may also be expected to cover for Site Supervisors on other sites as necessary.
• The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers.
• The Fluency Duty for this role is Required.
• You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.

Key Requirements

• To be successful you will have experience of working with members of the public and have a real interest in waste minimisation and recycling.
• Working at a Recycling Centre you will have the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.
• You will be used to working outdoors in all weathers as well as being capable of physical, manual work and operating machinery.
• In addition, it is important that you are flexible in your approach and happy to work on a shift basis.
