Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is hiring a Waste Services Assistant to lead the team and oversee waste operations from Forrest Street Depot, Blantyre. The role requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am–3:30pm, with pay between £38,249 and £39,313 per year.

You will supervise work processes, perform inspections, and ensure health and safety compliance while maintaining budget and standards. Applicants should have prior management experience in waste/recycling settings and strong communication,

Qualifications

• Previous management experience in a similar role is required.
• LGV (class 2) driving licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organise the team and operatives' work to deliver services on budget and to standard.
• Carry out inspections following official complaints and visit known areas of concern as required.
• Record and report findings and carry out Health and Safety compliance checks.
