Grundon Waste Management Ltd in Kingston upon Thames is seeking two Waste Operatives/Porters to support NHS waste management at Kingston and Richmond Hospitals. You will operate waste handling equipment, load and unload vehicles, and help ensure safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of COSHH and infection prevention principles.
• Safe manual handling practices.
• Experience in waste handling, ideally healthcare or clinical setting.
• Familiarity with NHS procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
• Strong communication, organisation, and record-keeping with attention to detail.
• Flexible, proactive approach; able to work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to work in environments with PPE, dust, odours and dirt.

Responsibilities

• Operate waste handling equipment and machinery safely and efficiently across the hospital site.
• Collect, transport and manage clinical and domestic waste to support essential NHS services.
• Carry out routine waste collections, replacing bins and cleaning containers to maintain high hygiene standards.
• Operate waste compactors and baling cardboard in line with environmental and compliance procedures.
• Ensure waste is handled, stored and secured correctly, following site and regulatory requirements.
• Complete documentation accurately and report defects, hazards or incidents promptly.
• Participate in training and work to established procedures with high safety and confidentiality.
