Job summary

Optime is recruiting Waste Operatives for Manchester Airport, offering an immediate start and full training. The role covers waste collection, segregation, and disposal across landside and airside areas, with a 4-on/2-off shift pattern and a £12.21 per hour rate.

You will be part of a team maintaining cleanliness and safety standards, handling hazardous materials properly and reporting issues to supervisors. A full UK driving licence is required, along with the ability to obtain airport ID.

Qualifications

• Full UK Driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points and held for more than a year.
• Physically fit and able to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy bins.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an airport ID, including passing background checks.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail, ensuring high cleaning standards.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Must be over 18.
• Previous airport and/or cleaning experience would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Change out all bins in both landside and airside areas of Manchester Airport.
• Segregate waste materials in designated service yards according to recycling and disposal protocols.
• Ensure that all waste collection, segregation, and disposal activities comply with environmental and safety regulations.
• Manage and maintain Foreign Object Debris (FOD) bins and oil bins to ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
• Monitor and report any issues related to waste management, bin collection, and hazardous waste to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in all assigned areas.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient waste management operations.
• Represent Mitie and Manchester Airport positively by providing excellent service and maintaining professional conduct at all times.
