Job summary

Staffline is hiring for a Waste Driver to work night shifts on a 5 on 3 off rota at the Airport site in the UK. A full UK driving licence and DBS/ references may be required, with flexible days during training.

Pay rates are £14.73–£16.20 per hour and the role includes training and uniform provision. The responsibilities include vehicle checks, safe driving of a D1 vehicle, waste handling, and ensuring compliance with airport regulations and health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• 5 Years UK checkable history (employment and/or education and/or unemployment).
• Ability to work without constant supervision and follow instructions.
• Ability to adapt quickly to a very busy operational environment.
• Very good attention to detail, reliable and flexible.
• Ability to work as part of a team and to work under pressure.
• No unspent Criminal Convictions (subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).

Responsibilities

• Drive a D1 vehicle with a manual driving licence.
• Be trained in Manual Handling to lift bags into the vehicle.
• Perform pre and post-vehicle checks.
• Fuel the vehicle.
• Clean up spillages.
• Use the Grundon compactor.
• Remove waste from the waste vehicle into the compactor.
• Maintain health and safety and airport regulations.
• Handle cleaning materials with care.
• Check equipment containers for cleanliness and damage and report issues.
• Ensure all customers and equipment are returned at end of service.
• Respond to callbacks promptly.
• Collect waste from cleaning teams following correct procedures.

Job description

Applicants require a minimum of 3 years of residence in the UK.

A full UK Driving Licence must be held.

The rate of pay is £

14.73 - £16.20 per hour.

Shift -

Night shift, 5 on 3 off, 20:00pm- 05:00am

Please note you: applicants may be required to work on days while in training

The Airport is operational 7 days per week and candidates will be working on a 5 on 3 off and you will need to be fully flexible with the days and hours you can work. This could be subject to change!

• Offering employment is subject to various background checks, such as DBS/ 5-year referencing

The responsibilities of a Waste Driver include:

• Able to drive a D1 vehicle- a manual driving license is required.
• Be trained in Manual Handling to ensure the correct methods are used to lift bags into the vehicle.
• Pre and post vehicle checks.
• Fuelling of the vehicle.
• Clean up of Spillages.
• Use the Grundon compactor.
• Be trained in how to remove Waste from the Waste Vehicle into the Grundon Compactor.
• To have good attention to detail and observe all health and safety and airport regulations.
• Sanitisation of Vehicle.
• Handling cleaning materials with care and consideration to minimize damage.
• Check all equipment containers for cleanliness and damage - report any damage to the CQS or FLM immediately.
• Ensure all customers and equipment are returned at the end of the service.
• Respond to callbacks in a prompt and timely manner.
• Ensure all waste is collected from the Cleaning teams by following the correct process.
