Mitie is hiring a Waste Bin Runner for Manchester Airport. You will empty and clean a range of waste bins across the airport, replace bags, and ensure bins are neat and presentable.

You’ll assist with signage and support sustainability goals while engaging with staff and travellers in a professional manner. The role requires a full UK driving licence, over 21, and willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste management, cleaning, or similar is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and a customer-friendly approach.
• Basic understanding of waste segregation and recycling best practices.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations in high-security environments like airports.
• Willingness to work in outdoor and indoor environments in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Waste collection and disposal across the airport, including various bin types.
• Replace bin bags, keep bins clean and presentable.
• Maintain signage and report damaged signage to MAG.
• Identify and report failures in waste segregation for compliance.
• Clean and maintain service yards and keep them hazard-free.
• Engage with staff and passengers professionally to ensure positive experience.
• Represent Mitie while following airport security protocols and high standards.

Job description

Job Title: Waste Bin RunnerHourly Rate of Pay: £13.45Contract Type: PermanentType of Employment: Full TimeTotal Weekly Contractual Hours: 30Location: Home Office, Manchester Airport, Terminal 1, Manchester, Greater Manchester, England M90 3EXRequirement: Candidate must be over 21 years of age, hold a full UK driving licence, and have at least 2 months' driving experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Waste Collection & Disposal: Emptying and cleaning a variety of waste bins across the airport, including:
• Ash bins
• Terminal bins (Landside & Airside)
• Front-of-building bins
• Washroom bins
• Oil can bins (Airside)
• Car park bins
• Viewing Park bins
• Replacing bin bags as necessary and ensuring bins are clean and presentable.
• Cleaning and maintaining signage across the airport and reporting any missing or damaged signage to Manchester Airport Group (MAG).
• Identifying and reporting any failures in waste segregation to ensure compliance with airport sustainability goals.
• Cleaning and maintaining service yards, keeping them tidy and free from hazards.
• Engaging with airport staff and passengers in a professional and courteous manner.
• Providing assistance and guidance where necessary, ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Representing Mitie with professionalism, following airport security protocols and behaving in a manner that reflects the high standards of Manchester Airport.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Previous experience in waste management, cleaning, or a similar role is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and a customer-friendly approach.
• Basic understanding of waste segregation and recycling best practices.
• Awareness of health & safety regulations, particularly in a high-security environment such as an airport.
• Willingness to work in outdoor and indoor environments, in all weather conditions.

Additional Information:

• Full training and uniform will be provided.
• Shift work may include early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
• Candidates must pass background checks and security clearance as per airport regulations
• Full Manual Driving license with no more than 6 points on license
• Randow Drug & Alcohol tests will be carried out
