As we continue to grow, we are looking for a knowledgeable and proactiveWaste Chemist / Waste Streams Managerto join our team.

Role Overview

This is a key position responsible for overseeing the identification, classification, and compliant management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams. The successful candidate will also be tasked with sourcing and securing appropriate disposal and recycling outlets for a wide range of waste types. This role would ideally suit someone with a strong technical background and an established network of contacts in the waste and environmental services sector.

Key Responsibilities

Classify and profile hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams in line with relevant legislation (e.g., WM3, EWC codes, Duty of Care).
Proactively identify and build relationships with waste outlets and treatment facilities across the UK.
Coordinate the safe and cost-effective disposal or treatment of waste through appropriate third-party facilities.
Ensure all waste movements and disposals are compliant with current environmental regulations and company policies.
Work closely with internal departments (e.g., transport, operations, compliance) to ensure seamless handling of waste materials.
Audit and review external waste outlets to ensure environmental and legal compliance.
Maintain accurate documentation and records for waste profiling, consignment notes, and disposal routes.
Keep abreast of changes in waste legislation and industry trends.

Candidate Requirements

Degree or HNC in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related subject (or equivalent industry experience).
Minimum 2 years' experience in waste management or environmental services.
Good working knowledge of hazardous waste regulations, EWC coding, and waste acceptance criteria.
A strong network of industry contacts across the waste disposal and recycling sector is highly desirable.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
Confident in using Microsoft Office and waste management software systems.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as needed.
