A quick look at the role.

The Collections Supervisor will supervise and control operational activities of the depot, maintain company and legislative records, and support the workforce in achieving their tasks to ensure safe and efficient service within contract requirements.

Biffa’s household waste division delivers cost-efficient, quality-led waste management services for 31 local authorities across the UK. With over 3,300 staff and around 1,562 specialist vehicles, our domestic waste management division makes millions of collections each week from over a million households across Britain.

  • Monitor workforce performance against KPIs, implement action plans, and address ongoing issues.
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and legal obligations are understood and followed.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients and customers.
  • Attend client meetings, deliver reports, and follow up on actions.
  • Maintain records and systems for compliant operation, including EA compliance.
  • Conduct induction and safety training regularly.
  • Ensure safety checks are performed and repairs completed.
  • Manage staffing levels and holidays to meet business needs.
  • Submit accurate and timely attendance records.

Requirements

Here’s what we require:

  • Experience with report production and analysis using Microsoft Office and internal IT systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, commercially driven environment.
  • Experience in people management and health and safety within unionized, multi-shift settings.
  • Minimum GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths; A-Levels or a Degree are a plus.
  • Proven ability to meet service delivery KPIs.
  • Experience with vehicle management, CPC, tachographs, and Road Transport Directive.
  • Proven track record of continuous improvement in operations or service environments.
