Job summary

Thurrock Council is seeking a Waste Collection Assistant to join the Waste & Recycling Team in Thurrock. This role involves operating vehicles, loading refuse and recycling, and engaging with the public in a polite, professional manner.

You must be physically fit and able to work with minimal supervision in a busy environment. The post offers 37 hours per week on a permanent basis with a competitive salary (£27,435–£29,715 per year) and benefits including generous leave and pension

We are looking for a reliable, self-motivated individual to join the Waste & Recycling Team as a Waste Collection Assistant.

As a Waste Collection Assistant of a small crew, you will have good communication and customer service skills to enable you to engage with colleagues and members of the public in a polite and professional manner.

You must be a team player, quick learner and able to carry out a range of duties including: Use of the vehicles in cab devices, moving, handling and loading of refuse, recycling, garden and food waste. You will be expected to work with minimum supervision.

The work involves operating machinery and heavy manual labour therefore you must be physically fit and mobile.
