Job summary

Thames Water is recruiting a Waste and Sustainability Coordinator within the Environmental Compliance Team in the Renewals and Logistics area. The role involves managing reuse via Greentag, ensuring Waste Duty of Care compliance, and providing waste management advice.

It requires collaboration with stakeholders, independent work, and strong time management. The role is hybrid with Didcot Regional Distribution Centre in Oxfordshire and may require travel across sites.

Job description

Thames Water are currently recruiting an Waste and Sustainability Coordinator within the Environmental Compliance Team. This team sits within the Renewals and Logistics area of the business. Its function is to reduce waste by encouraging re-use and sustainability by promoting its internal free cycle operation, Greentag and to ensure compliance with waste regulations.

What you will be doing as a Waste and Sustainability Coordinator

• Day to day management of re-use of materials & equipment within the Company via an intranet-based system 'Greentag'.
• Ensuring compliance with Waste Duty of Care.
• Provide advice on waste management matters.
• Problem solving and innovation.
• Support the Environmental Compliance Lead as subject matter expert for waste.
• Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met within the Company.
• Recording and reporting waste data.

Location: Hybrid - Didcot Regional Distribution Centre, Oxfordshire. Travel is required across our operational sites when required.

Hours of work, Monday to Friday, 36 hours a week, Internally, this role is known as Environmental Waste Resource Technician

What skills are we looking for?

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you'll need are:

• Knowledge of waste legislation and policy in the UK.
• Collaborative skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously whilst working to tight deadlines.
• Hold a valid and clean UK driving licence.

Desirable Skills that you can bring to this role:

• Experience of undertaking audits (waste duty of care) and site inspections.
• Delivering training.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or other relevant subject.
• Chartered status with relevant professional body. (e.g. CIWM, SocEnv, CIWEM)

Offering between £40,000 to £43,000 per annum, depending on experience and skills.
