Job summary

Thames Water in Didcot is seeking a Waste and Sustainability Coordinator to join the Environmental Compliance Team within Renewals and Logistics. You will focus on reducing waste and promoting reuse, managing the internal Greentag system and reporting waste data.

The role requires knowledge of UK waste legislation, the ability to work with diverse stakeholders, and a proactive approach to health and safety. Travel to sites is expected, with a 36-hour week.

Job description

Based in Didcot, this full-time Waste and Sustainability Coordinator role with Pertemps Thames Water offers a salary between £40,000 and £43,000, dependent on experience. You will join the Environmental Compliance Team within Renewals and Logistics, focusing on reducing waste and promoting reuse. Responsibilities include managing the internal ‘Greentag’ system for reusing materials and equipment, ensuring strict compliance with Waste Duty of Care, and advising on waste management issues. You will support the Environmental Compliance Lead as a subject matter expert, solving problems innovatively while maintaining rigorous Health & Safety standards. This position requires a proactive approach to fostering sustainability and minimising environmental impact across operations. Thames Water are currently recruiting a Waste and Sustainability Coordinator within the Environmental Compliance Team. This team sits within the Renewals and Logistics area of the business. Its function is to reduce waste by encouraging re-use and sustainability by promoting its internal free cycle operation, Greentag and to ensure compliance with waste regulations.

What you will be doing as a Waste and Sustainability Coordinator

• Day-to-day management of re-use of materials & equipment within the Company via an intranet-based system ‘Greentag’.
• Ensuring compliance with Waste Duty of Care.
• Provide advice on waste management matters.
• Problem solving and innovation.
• Support the Environmental Compliance Lead as subject matter expert for waste.
• Ensuring Health & Safety requirements are met within the Company.
• Recording and reporting waste data.
• Location : Didcot Regional Distribution Centre, Oxfordshire.
• Travel is required across our operational sites.
• Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 36 hours a week.
• Internally, this role is known as Environmental Waste Resource Technician

Desirable Skills that you can bring to this role

• Experience of undertaking audits (waste duty of care) and site inspections.
• Delivering training.
• Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability or other relevant subject.
• Chartered status with a relevant professional body. (e.g. CIWM, SocEnv, CIWEM)
