Job summary

Highgate Care Services Ltd is seeking a part-time Chef/Cook for Maple Court in Scarborough. The role runs 6:30am–17:00 with a pay rate of £14.33 per hour. You will plan, prepare and cook meals, supervise the kitchen team, and ensure high standards of food safety and resident satisfaction in a caring home environment.

Knowledge of HACCP and experience in catering are valued, with opportunities for staff development and involvement in resident meetings to tailor catering to preferences.

Qualifications

• Experience in a kitchen or catering environment preferred
• Knowledge of HACCP and health & safety requirements
• Ability to plan meals around residents' dietary needs and preferences

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and cook meals appealing and nutritious for residents, following dietary requirements and the Good Food Guide where applicable.
• Supervise the Kitchen Team and conduct appraisals; interview kitchen staff candidates.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP, Health & Safety, COSHH and Environmental Health requirements.
• Maintain cleaning schedules per the Food Safety Manual; keep kitchen areas immaculately clean.
• Order and manage food stocks; rotate stock to maintain freshness and quality.
• Collaborate with Home Manager on staff recruitment and development; attend meetings as required.
• Be attentive to residents' needs and attend resident/relative meetings; respond to feedback.
