Job description

Games Workshop has an amazing opportunity for an Illustrator to join our world-renowned Warhammer 40,000 art team to create amazing images of the grim darkness of the far future, from portraits of Space Marines to depictions of massed battles between mighty armies, and everything in between.

As part of the renowned art team in our Nottingham Design Studio, you’ll be responsible for producing detailed, fantastical illustrations for various print products and formats, including codexes, rulebooks and packaging, across Warhammer 40,000 and other related games such as Kill Team.

Highly creative and with a deep passion for Warhammer 40,000, you’ll produce high impact, digitally rendered illustrations steeped in a deep understanding of the 40K IP, while working to a brief and faithfully recreating our Citadel Miniatures in artwork. You’ll possess strong figure drawing and painting skills, and enjoy the challenge of producing highly rendered and appropriate art to strict deadlines, whilst always pushing quality.

Our Illustrators work predominantly in digital media, most commonly Photoshop, working hand in hand with our Writers and Graphic Designers to create a range of books and products for the Warhammer 40,000 game systems. These provide context and inspiration for Warhammer fans around the world.

If you are an experienced Illustrator with impressive drawing skills and a strong portfolio of published work, and you dream of the grimdark splendour of Warhammer 40,000, we want to hear from you!

Working at Games Workshop

At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. Because of this we believe that what you are like, hence the attitude you show to work and the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills and experience.

The Warhammer World site is based just outside of Nottingham city centre and benefits from a nearby tram stop and free onsite car parking.

In return for your hard work, you will receive 33 days holiday per year (including public holidays), matching contributory pension scheme up to 7.5%, profit share bonus (subject to GW meeting profit targets) and option to join our Share Save scheme. Oh and let’s not forget, a staff discount of between 25% and 50% on our products!
