Job summary

Driver Hire Chelmsford & Harlow are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established metal supplier, for a permanent Warehouse & Transport Supervisor. The role involves overseeing a small team and coordinating day-to-day warehouse and deliveries.

You will manage four drivers, plan routes, and ensure loads are accurate, safe, and efficiently run. Monday to Friday, 5:00am-2:00pm, with no weekend work and a £30,000 salary plus overtime where available.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the warehouse and transport operation and a team of four drivers.
• Coordinate daily delivery routes and vehicle loading/unloading.
• Supervise loading/unloading with counterbalance FLT.
• Manage holidays, PPE and day-to-day HR matters for drivers.
• Check deliveries against paperwork and monitor health & safety issues.
• Ensure safe, efficient operations and support wider warehouse tasks as needed.

Warehouse & Transport Supervisor - Witham

Driver Hire Chelmsford & Harlow are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established metal supplier, for a permanent Warehouse & Transport Supervisor.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced warehouse and transport professional looking to take the next step in their career, overseeing a small team while playing a key role in the day-to-day running of the warehouse and deliveries.

The Role

Working Monday to Friday, with no weekend or bank holiday working, you will be responsible for coordinating the warehouse and transport operation, managing a team of four drivers and ensuring deliveries are planned and completed efficiently.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Unloading the morning delivery and organising goods within the warehouse.
• Planning daily delivery routes and ensuring vehicles are loaded correctly and efficiently.
• Loading and unloading vehicles using a counterbalance FLT.
• Managing a team of four drivers, including holidays, PPE and day-to-day HR matters.
• Unloading deliveries from suppliers and accurately checking goods against delivery documentation.
• Completing warehouse walk-round checks and identifying and rectifying any Health & Safety issues.
• Ensuring the warehouse and transport operation runs safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Supporting the wider team with general warehouse and transport duties as required.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a warehouse, transport or supervisory role.
• A valid Counterbalance FLT licence - essential.
• Experience managing or supervising a small team.
• Good organisational and communication skills.
• A strong understanding of Health & Safety within a warehouse/transport environment.
• The ability to plan workloads and deliveries effectively.
• A hands-on approach and the ability to work well under pressure.
• Experience within a similar industry or working with metal/steel products would be advantageous.

Hours & Pay

Monday - Friday

5:00am - 2:00pm

£30,000 per year + overtime where available

No weekends or bank holidays.

Start date:Ideally 1st September.
