We are now recruiting for a Warehouse Trainer at our Great Bear in Heywood site for a full-time and permanent position.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 22:00-06:00.

Salary: From £29,000 to £33,000 per annum.

Job Description

Deliver training to MHE operators to ensure safe working practices and a continual reduction in MHE accidents/incidents.

  • Effectively lead the site Health & Safety culture as the top priority.
  • Train staff on S-Cape (Abseil Training). Candidates must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Train all MHE staff to use the FMS (Fleet Management System).
  • Support site inductions for MHE and Manual Handling for all staff.
  • Assist in completing Risk Assessments (RA) and Safe Working Practices (SWP).
  • Provide high-quality technical skills training using various delivery methods.
  • Ensure all training is completed and recorded according to company policy.
  • Develop a site skills matrix to monitor and ensure the competence of MHE operators, including refresher training.
  • Manage MHE operator skill levels to minimize skill fade and risks.
  • Ensure ongoing competence through refresher training and assessments.
  • Assist in investigating on-site and MHE-related incidents.
  • Proactively reduce risks associated with MHE operations and share lessons learned.
  • Contribute to creating Safe Systems of Work and risk assessments for MHE activities.
  • Identify hazards and implement control measures, training staff accordingly.
  • Review safety audit GAP analyses with management.
  • Liaise with operational management to cover training across shifts.
  • Participate as part of the MHE instructor team, ensuring training compliance.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Compile data for KPI and monthly reports for management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Reach, VNA, or Counterbalance forklifts.
  • Comfort working at heights due to S-Cape training.
  • Previous instructor or training experience is advantageous.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Team player with initiative.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexible in work and shift patterns.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong time management and problem-solving skills.
