Job summary

The Recruitment Group is hiring a Warehouse Team Leader for a brand-new, state-of-the-art distribution centre in Birmingham. You will lead a team of 15+ operatives, drive daily targets, quality and service, and be a hands-on presence on the warehouse floor in a fast-paced environment.

This role is on a 12-week temp-to-perm contract with shifts 10:00–18:00 or 18:00–02:00, five days out of seven. Night rates apply after 10pm, and you will help shape the site and grow your team as the operation

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months' experience in a Team Leader role within logistics, 3PL, warehousing or e‑commerce fulfilment.
• Proven experience managing a team of 15+ warehouse operatives.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, target-driven warehouse environment.
• Hands-on leadership style with involvement in day-to-day operations.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and quick decision-making under pressure.
• Proactive, ownership-driven approach to drive improvements.
• Excellent communication and ability to motivate and coach the team.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining productivity, quality and safety.
• Flexibility to work 5 days out of 7 on a weekly rota.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and manage a team of 15+ warehouse operatives, driving performance and accountability.
• Own daily shift operations, ensuring productivity, quality and service targets.
• Allocate workloads to meet changing operational demands.
• Maintain a strong presence on the warehouse floor and lead by example.
• Monitor productivity, attendance and team performance, addressing issues promptly.
• Coach, train and develop team members to improve performance and progression.
• Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions.
• Adapt to changing priorities and evolving processes in a growing e‑commerce operation.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and site policies.
• Support stock handling, inventory control and inbound/outbound/despatch activities.
• Collaborate with management to maintain efficiency and standardization.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and establish best practices.
• Promote a positive, accountable team culture.
