Job summary

Haywood and Padgett in Barnsley is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to lead the warehouse team and support the Warehouse Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supervisor to join a stable, growing food-manufacturing business.

You will supervise colleagues, manage stock movements, despatch paperwork, and ensure health and safety compliance on site. A strong forklift background and supervisory experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a warehouse environment.
• Experience in supervising or leading a team.
• Counterbalance and Reach forklift experience preferred.
• NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Processing incoming orders and ensuring accuracy.
• Using Counterbalance and Reach forklift trucks as required.
• Transferring and moving stock around the site with proper rotation.
• Maintaining stock levels and recording stock movements.
• Preparing despatch paperwork and reconciling pallets with orders.
• General warehouse administration and housekeeping.
• Complying with health and safety regulations and reporting defects.
• Attending training and development courses as appropriate.

The Role

The Warehouse Supervisor will work closely with the Warehouse Manager, supervising and supporting colleagues within the warehouse team whilst working alongside other key departments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Warehouse Team Leader or Supervisor looking to join a stable and growing food manufacturing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing incoming orders
• Using Counterbalance and Reach forklift trucks
• Transferring and moving supplies around the site and storing stock appropriately using correct stock rotation procedures
• Maintaining minimum and essential stock levels and accurately recording stock movements
• Preparing despatch paperwork
• Reconciling all pallets loaded against customer orders before despatch
• General warehouse administration duties
• Complying with all health and safety legislation and maintaining a clean and organised working environment
• Reporting machinery or equipment defects and supporting maintenance activities when required
• Attending training and development courses as appropriate

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience working within a warehouse environment
• Previous supervisory, team leader or management experience
• Experience using Counterbalance forklift trucks is essential
• Experience using Reach forklift trucks is essential
• Good standard of education
• NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing or equivalent welcomed

Skills

• Forklift truck operation
• Basic Food Hygiene Certificate preferred
• Fully conversant with Microsoft applications, including Word and Excel
• Excellent team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Capable of working independently and using own initiative
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work to deadlines
