Job summary

Grain Connect Limited in Carlisle is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor to lead a small team and manage stock control for our Data Centre operations. You will oversee daily logistics, ensure requisitions are fulfilled accurately, and coordinate picking and packing for dispatch.

The role requires strong IT skills (Excel, Outlook, Word), good communication, and proven supervisory experience. A full driving licence and a hands-on approach are essential.

Qualifications

  • IT literate with strong MS Office skills (Excel/Outlook/Word).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities with cross-team collaboration.
  • Structured, methodical approach to stock control and operations.
  • Full clean driving licence and ability to drive company vans.
  • Proven supervisory/managerial experience and commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and delegate work of a small team daily with clear communication.
  • Ensure stock requisitions are actioned accurately and promptly.
  • Pick and pack orders for dispatch.
  • Monitor stock levels and maintain safe, organised storage.
  • Undertake regular stock counts.
  • Oversee Health & Safety standards, including risk assessments and COSHH.

About this role

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Warehouse Supervisor will oversee a small team responsible for coordinating store activities to meet the requirements of the business. You will be tasked with implementing stock control measures to ensure a smooth and effective operation of the Data Centre.

Main responsibilities
  • Daily leadership and delegation of work of a small team via effective communication
  • Ensure that requisitions for stock are actioned accurately and timely.
  • Picking and packaging up orders ready for dispatch
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels, ensuring stock is organised in a safe manner.
  • Undertake regular stock counts
  • Day to day management of all Health & Safety standards including risk assessments, manual handling & COSHH
  • Monitor performance, drive improvement and resolve challenges and issues as they arise.
  • Line management responsibility for the team including, return to work meetings, team morale, taking an active part in reviews and appraisal meetings.
  • Receipting and management of goods received and receipting processes.
  • Liaise with purchasing for stock replenishment.
  • Effective categorisation and management of stock.
Working hours

This is a full-time role working 41 hours per week. These hours will be worked Monday – Friday between the hours of 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Experience required
  • IT literate, particularly adept in the use of Microsoft packages especially Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and cross team working
  • Structured methodical approach
  • Full clean driving licence and confident and willing to drive company vans.
  • Trustworthy self-starter with an ability to work without close supervision and hands on approach
  • Must have previous management/supervisory skills and commercial awareness
  • 25 days annual leave, plus paid bank holidays
