The role
As a Coldstore Shift Manager, you will:
Supervise, train, provide performance feedback, and assign duties to direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness within the cold storage environment.
Oversee operational procedures for incoming and outgoing shipments, organizing merchandise, and maintaining accurate warehouse inventory, ensuring the safe handling of temperature-sensitive goods.
Plan production schedules and allocate resources effectively, ensuring job assignments are completed on time while maintaining production records.
Track warehouse activities including record control, employee productivity, health and safety, and operational volumes to ensure smooth running of cold storage operations.
Take responsibility for ensuring warehouse compliance with safety standards and company procedures, with a focus on maintaining a safe, efficient, and clean working environment.
Investigate accidents and near misses, following company accident investigation procedures to ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Assist with resolving employee concerns and maintain effective communication at all levels of the organisation to foster a positive working environment.
Ensure a high level of employee engagement throughout the shift, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
Work in a cold store environment at temperatures around -20°C, using provided cold store PPE to stay warm and safe during shifts.
Maintain accurate shift reports and provide detailed feedback to the management team on operational performance and any challenges faced.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone who:
Has previous experience in a similar warehouse management or supervisory role, ideally within a cold storage environment.
Has experience working with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
Can communicate effectively with all team members in English.
Demonstrates good working practices and has a strong focus on health and safety.
Engages well with employees at all levels, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
Is proactive in troubleshooting and problem-solving to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
Recognizes the importance of continuous improvement and is not afraid to challenge the status quo.
Has the ability to motivate and lead a team, ensuring high levels of employee performance and satisfaction.
Is committed to maintaining operational excellence, especially in cold storage conditions.
