Job description

The Warehouse Shift Manager’s role is pivotal, focusing on delivering consistent performance and proactively managing all daily aspects of operations. You will work closely with the Warehouse Operations Manager to optimize current processes and manage a large team effectively.

Shift: Monday to Friday rotating, 06.00-14.00/14.00-22.00

Key Duties:

• Manage team attendance, performance, productivity, and accuracy, motivating team members to achieve high standards.
• Coordinate and motivate warehouse operations to ensure effective performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the warehouse as part of the senior operations team.
• Manage shift staffing and labor to meet workload demands in a time-sensitive environment.
• Ensure operational KPIs are met and maintained.
• Maintain knowledge of warehouse functions including returns, inventory control, co-pack, and delivery schedules, along with health & safety procedures.
• Communicate effectively with staff, customers, and other departments to foster positive relationships.
• Control labor costs while maintaining smooth workflow without disruptions.
• Promote health & safety practices within the warehouse, including MHE safety and accountability.
• Manage employee performance, addressing underperformance appropriately.
• Handle disciplinary matters proactively following proper procedures.
• Manage sickness and absence, supporting employees to ensure low absence levels.

Qualifications:

• Management experience in a warehouse operational setting.
• Experience in a busy, fast-paced warehouse environment.
• Proven people management skills, including handling probation, attendance, performance, and disciplinary issues.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and health & safety regulations.
• Proactive, confident individual capable of motivating teams.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Previous 3PL experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office and PC literacy.
