Job summary

Major Recruitment Coventry is seeking a Warehouse Senior Operative in Coventry on a permanent basis. The role supports the Warehouse Team Leader, coordinates daily activities and leads by example in health, safety, quality and productivity.

The successful candidate will manage SAP/WMS transactions, stock movements and documentation, while maintaining high housekeeping standards and supporting Goods In, Dispatch and Inventory Control functions.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse or logistics environments is required.
• Experience across Goods In, Dispatch and Inventory Control.
• Good knowledge of SAP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience using warehouse scanning systems.
• Experience operating MHE safely.
• Strong understanding of warehouse procedures and stock control.
• Ability to provide guidance, support or coaching to colleagues.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP requirements.
• Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive approach to remaining calm and effective in a busy warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior operational contact during allocated shift.
• Support the Warehouse Team Leader with daily activity coordination.
• Prioritise tasks and ensure safe, timely completion.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and practical support to Warehouse Operatives.
• Lead by example, upholding safety, quality and productivity.
• Complete and verify SAP/WMS transactions, stock movements and documentation.
• Support Goods In, Production Supply, Inventory Control and Dispatch operations.
• Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock investigations.
• Assist with training and induction of new starters.
• Provide on-the-job training and develop competencies.
• Maintain housekeeping, GMP and Food Safety standards.
• Identify and escalate operational issues, equipment failures and stock discrepancies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and revised processes.
• Stop unsafe activities when risk is present.

Warehouse Senior Operative

Location: Coventry | Salary: Up to £34,000 per annum (DOE) | Job Type: Permanent | Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off - Days & Nights | Hours: 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am

Major Recruitment is currently recruiting for a permanent Warehouse Senior Operative opportunity based in Coventry.

We are looking for a warehouse professional who can act as a senior operational point of contact during their shift, supporting the Warehouse Team Leader and providing guidance to the wider warehouse team.

This is a hands‑on role where you will remain operational while helping to coordinate daily activities, maintain high standards and ensure work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.

The Role

As a Warehouse Senior Operative, you will:

• Act as the senior operational contact during your allocated shift.
• Support the Warehouse Team Leader with the coordination of daily warehouse activities.
• Prioritise operational tasks and ensure work is completed safely and on time.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and practical support to Warehouse Operatives.
• Lead by example and promote excellent standards of Health & Safety, quality and productivity.
• Complete and verify SAP/WMS transactions, stock movements, scanning activities and warehouse documentation.
• Support Goods In, Production Supply, Inventory Control and Dispatch operations.
• Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock investigations and discrepancies.
• Support the training and induction of new starters.
• Provide practical on-the-job training and assist with competency development.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping, GMP and Food Safety.
• Identify and elevate operational issues, equipment failures, stock discrepancies and service risks.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and revised warehouse processes.
• Stop unsafe activities where there is an immediate risk to people, products or equipment.

Please note: This is a senior operational position and does not have formal line management responsibility.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working within a warehouse or logistics environment.
• Experience across areas such as Goods In, Dispatch and Inventory Control.
• Good knowledge of SAP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
• Experience using warehouse scanning systems.
• Experience operating MHE safely.
• A strong understanding of warehouse procedures and stock control.
• The ability to provide guidance, support or coaching to colleagues.
• A good understanding of Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP requirements.
• The ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive approach with the ability to remain calm and effective in a busy warehouse environment.

Desirable Qualifications

• Counterbalance Forklift Licence
• Reach Truck Licence
• Food Safety Level 2
• Manual Handling Training
• GCSEs or equivalent

Working Hours

This is a 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern, covering both days and nights:

• 2 x Day Shifts: 7:00am - 7:00pm
• 2 x Night Shifts: 7:00pm - 7:00am
• Followed by 4 days off

You must be comfortable working both 12-hour day and night shifts as part of the rotation.

Salary up to £34,000 per annum, depending on experience
