Job summary

ILG is seeking a Warehouse Section Manager to support the Warehouse Manager in running all warehouse activities in a defined area. You will assign staff, manage performance, and ensure high standards of customer service, including daily briefing and effective communication with the Operational Team.

You will also review performance, identify training needs, and support changes while maintaining smooth operations and contract coverage within a fast-growing logistics environment.

Qualifications

• Proven managerial experience in warehouse operations.
• Ability to coordinate daily activities and delegate while hands-on.
• Methodical approach with workload prioritisation.
• Experience handling disciplinary and sickness absence cases.

Responsibilities

• Manage manpower levels and resources to meet contract coverage.
• Coordinate operational activities to maintain service levels.
• Conduct regular briefings and ensure effective communication with the team.
• Relay issues and information to the Warehouse Manager (schedules, accuracy, queries).
• Carry out one-to-one meetings to review performance and development.
• Identify training needs and provide solutions for role readiness.
• Support operational change with minimal disruption to production and service.
• Support the Warehouse Manager as required.

The role

Warehouse Operations are at the heart of what we do. Our customers choose ILG because our attention to detail across services like picking, embroidery and engraving adds something special to their brand. As a Warehouse Section Manager you are responsible for supporting the Warehouse Manager in the management of all warehouse activities in a given area. You would be expected to assign and organise staff, manage performance and productivity to ensure full contract coverage and excellent standards of customer service at all times, including:

• Managing manpower levels and other resources in line with agreed parameters
• Coordinating operational activities to ensure the required service level is provided
• Conducting regular briefings and ensure effective communications with the Operational Team
• Communicating issues and information to the Warehouse Manager such as delivery schedules, warehouse accuracy and general queries
• Conducting one to one meetings with team members to review performance and development
• Recognising training needs and providing solutions to ensure team members have the required knowledge for their role
• Actively supporting operational change whilst minimising disruption to production and service
• Supporting the Warehouse Manager as and when required

What we are looking for

• Previous experience in a managerial role in a warehouse operation
• Ability to coordinate daily activities and delegate within a team whilst remaining operationally hands-on
• A methodical approach and the ability to prioritise workload and tasks
• Ability to react within a complex and growing operational environment
• Experience of handling disciplinary and sickness absence cases
• An understanding of 3EX.Net warehouse management system and MS office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook)
