Job summary

Barrett Steel Limited's Dragon Steel Services in Saltney seeks a motivated Warehouse Operative to ensure fast-paced order fulfilment with accuracy. You will load, unload, move stock with forklift, and help in dispatch while maintaining safety standards.

The role runs Monday-Thursday 8:00–16:45 and Friday 7:00–15:45, with a highly competitive hourly rate and benefits including 25 days holiday, pension, life assurance, and wellbeing services.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Warehouse Operative; steel or heavy industry experience is an advantage.
• Flexible attitude, results oriented, and team player.
• Bandsaw/Side-Loader/Fork-Lift experience desirable, training available.
• Strong commitment to Health & Safety.
• Ideally possess a driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Pick computer generated orders with repetitive handling of heavy items.
• Loading, cutting (saws) and offloading of steel.
• Ensure documentation is accurate for stock.
• Move stock using a Forklift truck.
• Assist in production and dispatch of orders.
• Keep work area clean and maintain Health & Safety standards.
• Operate machinery only when trained.
• Perform ad hoc duties as required.

All About the Role

Based at our Dragon Steel Services, Saltney site the purpose of this role is to ensure customers’ orders are fulfilled to the highest standards in a fast-paced environment.The shift hours are Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4.45pm, Fridays 7 am to 3.45pm

Specific tasks will include:

• Pick computer generated orders with repetitive handling/lifting of heavy and large item.
• Loading, cutting (Saws) and offloading of steel.
• Ensure all documentation is correctly actioned for accuracy of stock.
• Transferring stock to its location using a Forklift truck.
• Assisting in the overall production and dispatch of customers’ orders
• Keep work area clean and tidy maintain high levels of Health & Safety.
• Be adaptable and flexible in approach to work to meet operational requirements.
• Operate machinery (only when trained to do so)
• Any ad hoc duties as required in the role.

Essential Skills for the role:

• The successful candidate will have experience as a Warehouse Operative; steel industry or heavy industry experience would be an advantage.

• Bandsaw/Side-Loader/ Fork-Lift experience desirable, however training will be given.
• A strong commitment to Health & Safety.
• Ideally a Driving License
