Job summary

Proactive Global in Bedford is seeking a Warehouse Operative (Freezer/Cold Store) for night shifts to accurately pick, pack, and dispatch customer orders in a multi-temperature warehouse.

You will work in cold-storage and deep-freeze areas, using voice-activated systems or handheld scanners, and participate in stock rotation while complying with safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Able to work in low temperatures down to -23°C.
• Punctual and flexible with shift patterns and weekends.
• Experience in logistics, warehousing or cold-store environments is a plus.
• FLT licence (Reach or VNA) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Order Picking: pick customer orders accurately using voice-activated systems or scanners.
• Pallet & Cage Assembly: stack and load goods for safe transport.
• Dispatch & Loading: move orders to dispatch areas and assist with loading.
• Stock Rotation: follow FIFO to maintain product quality.
• Safety & Housekeeping: operate warehouse machinery safely and keep the area clean.

Warehouse Operative (Freezer/Cold Store) - Night Shift

Pay rate: 14-16p/h

Company: Bedford

Contract Type: Full-Time

Hours: 10pm-6am, 40 hours per week (5 days out of 7, including weekends)

Job Purpose

To accurately pick, assemble, and prepare customer orders for dispatch within a multi-temperature warehouse environment. This role requires working efficiently in cold‑storage and deep‑freeze sections to ensure on‑time delivery across our distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

• Order Picking: Pick customer orders accurately using voice-activated picking systems or handheld scanners.
• Pallet & Cage Assembly: Securely stack and load goods onto cages, pallets, or crates to ensure safe transport.
• Dispatch & Loading: Move completed orders to designated dispatch areas and assist with loading delivery vehicles.
• Stock Rotation: Follow strict stock management procedures (First In, First Out) to maintain product quality.
• Safety & Housekeeping: Operate all warehouse machinery safely and keep the cold-store workspace clean and hazard‑free.

Key Requirements

• Physical Fitness: Ability to work efficiently in low‑temperature environments (down to -23°C) and lift heavy items safely.
• Reliability: Strong punctuality and a flexible attitude toward shift patterns and weekend work.
• Experience (Preferred): Previous experience in logistics, warehousing, or cold-store environments is a plus.
• Licences (Desirable): A valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence (Reach or VNA) is highly advantageous.
