We are recruiting for an experienced Warehouse Operative at our Telford dairy site, supporting a fast-paced food manufacturing and automated warehouse operation.

The ideal candidate will hold valid forklift licences, including counterbalance, and will bring extensive manufacturing, warehouse and systems experience, with confidence working around operational equipment, stock systems, quality standards and continuous improvement activity.

As our warehouse operation continues to become more automated and technology-driven, successful candidates will need to be comfortable working with multiple software systems, troubleshooting operational issues, and supporting the efficient running of our warehouse control processes. System knowledge and digital capability are becoming key skills for future progression within the team.

Contract: Full Time / Permanent

Salary: £32,011 per annum, plus overtime premiums

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (days & nights)

Working Hours: 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am

Key responsibilities:

  • Operate safely and effectively within a high-volume food manufacturing and warehouse environment, following site procedures, safe systems of work and hygiene standards.
  • Use forklift equipment, including counterbalance trucks, to move, store and supply materials in line with operational requirements.
  • Support production lines by ensuring materials are available on time, scanned accurately and moved to the correct locations throughout the system.
  • Maintain accurate stock control, goods issuing, receipt of materials, traceability and stock rotation processes, supporting the management of stock discrepancies where required.
  • Use warehouse systems such as SAP/EWM and transport systems to support accurate material movements, stock visibility and operational performance.
  • Identify, respond to and elevate operational, equipment, process or quality issues quickly to minimise disruption to production and protect product standards.
  • Work confidently around high-speed machinery, automated warehouse processes and manufacturing plant, including supporting basic fault finding and rectification where appropriate.
  • Maintain GMP, hygiene, quality and audit standards within the warehouse, supporting checks, audits and follow-up actions as required.
  • Share technical knowledge with team members to support capability, consistency and continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience:

  • Valid forklift licences, including counterbalance, are essential.
  • Extensive experience within a manufacturing, production, FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume warehouse environment.
  • Strong technical awareness with the ability to understand manufacturing processes, automated warehouse equipment, plant, machinery and operational systems.
  • Experience using warehouse, stock or transport systems
  • Confident identifying, rectifying and escalating issues that may impact safety, quality, production, stock accuracy or material flow.
  • Experience working on or around high-speed/high-volume machines, automated systems or manufacturing plant, with basic fault-finding capability desirable.
  • Strong understanding of stock accuracy, traceability, scanning, goods receipt, stock rotation and material movement processes.
  • Ability to prioritise daily tasks, work effectively under own initiative and remain confident when working without direct supervision.
  • Continuous improvement mindset, with the confidence to suggest and support improvements in productivity, storage, cost, quality and ways of working.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with internal teams and external contacts where required.
  • A team player who is able to share knowledge, support others and contribute positively to operational performance.
  • Reliable, flexible, resilient and results orientated, with good attendance, attitude and timekeeping.

We're looking for candidates who can bring a combination of operational and technical warehouse expertise, including:

  • Valid Material Handling Equipment (MHE) licences and experience operating warehouse equipment.
  • Strong IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office and other business systems.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), SAP, and warehouse software platforms.
  • Ability to work across multiple operational systems, investigate issues, and respond to system alerts.
  • Experience in automated warehouse or control room environments would be highly advantageous.
