Job summary

Company Shop Group is seeking a Warehouse Operative at the Tankersley Distribution Centre. You will join a fast-paced team in a chill and ambient environment, with full training provided.

The role requires reliability, good communication, and teamwork. Shifts include day, night, and other patterns; pay is £12.75 per hour with a £1.25 night premium and 4-weekly payments. Prior warehouse experience is useful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Check goods into the warehouse on delivery.
• Check for damaged or missing items and sort stock.
• Move sorted stock to storage or arrange transport.
• Keep accurate stock records on the warehouse management system.
• Ensure products are stored safely, labeled correctly and comply with hygiene procedures.
• Process products through packing lines, ensuring food safety and legality.
• Sort, weigh, label and ink-jet items; pick orders with a handheld scanner.
• Place stock on pallets, wrap and label for delivery to stores.
• Organise transfers and load goods onto delivery vehicles.
• Maintain high standards in all areas and complete paperwork promptly.

Join our team as a Warehouse Operative based at our distribution centre in Tankersley. We are looking for hard working individuals that are enthusiastic and enjoy a challenge to join our warehouse team at our Distribution Centre in Tankersley, South Yorkshire. Someone who have strong work ethic, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will work as part of a team within a busy chill and ambient warehouse environment. Previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment may be useful, however full training will be given.

Details of location, pay and shift pattern

Shifts/hours: Day Shift: Vacancy A – 37.5 hours per week working Tuesday to Saturday. The working hours are from 6am to 2pm Tuesday to Friday and 8am to 4pm Saturday. Vacancy B – 37.5 hours per week working Sunday to Thursday. The working hours are from 6am to 2pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4pm Sunday. PM Shift: Vacancy C – 37.5 hours per week working Tuesday to Saturday. The working hours are from 2pm to 10pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 6pm Saturday. Vacancy D – 37.5 hours per week working Sunday to Thursday. The working hours are from 2pm to 10pm Monday to Thursday and 10am to 6pm Sunday. Night Shift: Vacancy E – 37.5 hours per week working Tuesday to Saturday. The working hours are from 10pm to 6am. Vacancy F – 38 hours per week working Friday to Monday. The working hours are from 10pm to 8am.

Please note, all roles will involve working in the chill and ambient departments.

Location: Company Shop Group, Tankersley Distribution Centre, Wentworth Way, Wentworth Industrial Estate, Tankersley, Barnsley, South Yorkshire S75 3DH.

Rate of pay: £12.75 per hour, paid on a 4 weekly basis.

Night Premium: Employees assigned to the night shift will receive a night shift allowance of £1.25 per hour.

Please note, our team operates around the clock, 24/7, and the successful candidates will be required to work bank holidays.

Accountabilities and responsibilities

Checking Goods into the Warehouse when a delivery is unloaded. Checking for damaged or missing items and then sorting stock for storage in the warehouse. Taking sorted stock to the appropriate storage space or arranging for the appropriate vehicle to move the stock. Keeping accurate records of stock on the warehouse management system, so it can be located quickly. Ensure that products are stored safely and labelled/disclaimed correctly and safely and Supervisor or Manager are advised of any items that are not correct. Adhere to all environmental, food safety and quality/ hygiene procedures when undertaking duties. Processing the product through various packing lines and processes ensure food safety, brand protection and legality. The use of machines and equipment may be required to process the products. Sorting, checking, weighing, labelling and ink-jetting products. Picking orders using a hand-held scanner from the storage space and taking to the packing teams. Place stock on pallets, ensuring it is then correctly wrapped and labelled ready for delivery to the stores. Organising transfers and loading goods on to delivery vehicles. Ensure that all areas are kept to a high standard. Ensure that all paperwork is completed in a timely and efficient manner using the correct document and system. The use of technology to input data. Ensure all Health & Safety processes are followed at all times. Ensure that KPI's are achieved.
