Job summary

BAKO Group currently seeks a Warehouse Operative for our Preston site to support unloading/loading activities and accurate stock handling across ambient, freezer and chill sections. You will ensure goods are checked in, temperatures monitored, and orders processed efficiently.

The role requires forklift competency, strong communication, and willingness to work Sunday-Thursday nights. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and stable employment in a leading UK bakery supplier.

Qualifications

• Warehouse experience is essential.
• Ability to work across freezer, chilled and ambient departments.
• Must be flexible and reliable.
• Good communication skills and team collaboration.
• Counterbalance forklift licence is required.
• Shunting experience is desirable.
• Health & Safety training is expected.
• Machine handling equipment experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Unload/load vehicles and follow shift supervisor instructions.
• Accurately pick and collate stock across ambient, freezer and chiller areas.
• Check goods inwards and monitor vehicle temperatures before loading/unloading.
• Operate MHE safely and per instructions.
• Carry out hygiene/maintenance tasks as directed by management.
• Perform other duties to ensure efficient warehouse operations.

Purpose of Job

Unloading/Loading Vehicles, booking in stock correctly from goods in & Collating/Picking Customer orders & all associated cleaning duties.

Main Duties

• To carry out given duties/instructions by shift supervisor
• Accurately picking and collating stock in all departments Ambient, Freezer & Chiller.
• Checking in goods inwards.
• Checking vehicle temperatures before loading/Unloading.
• Loading/Unloading of vehicles in line with given instructions.
• Use of mechanical handling equipment in daily duties in safe and competent manner.
• To carry out any hygiene/maintenance related duty, or any other task deemed appropriate by the manager/shift supervisor in any part of the site.
• These together with all other duties associated with the effective and efficient running of the Warehouse area and other related areas.

• Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as that of others who may be affected by your actions or omissions.
• Promptly report any hazards, unsafe practices, incidents, or near misses to your line manager or the Health & Safety team.
• Cooperate with management on all matters relating to health and safety, including attending mandatory training and following issued guidance or instructions.
• Use equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) properly and as instructed to minimise risk.
• Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the identification and control of workplace hazards.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement in workplace safety by actively engaging in health and safety initiatives and suggestions.
