Job summary

DFDS A/S in Grimsby is seeking a Warehouse Operative to support a busy fresh fish warehouse on a 4 on 4 off pattern (07:00–19:00). You will handle stock movements, operate forklifts, and complete intake/outload paperwork with accuracy in a chilled 0–4°C environment.

You'll need a valid forklift licence and prior forklift experience in a chilled warehouse. Good numeracy and basic reading/writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as part of a team are

Responsibilities

• Allocate stock to customer orders and move/stack boxes of fresh fish.
• Build, wrap, and move pallets and manage stock through warehouse systems.
• Complete allocation records, weight paperwork, and intake/outload docs.
• Carry out pre-use MHE checks and safely load/unload trailers and vehicles.
• Maintain health, safety, and housekeeping standards in the warehouse.
• Support picking, coldstore, and other operational areas as required.
• Assist with cleaning activities including loading ramps and deep cleans.

Job description

Are you looking for a position in which you keep things moving and deliver when it matters most? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as a Warehouse Operative in our Grimsby depot.

About the role

Working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (07:00–19:00), you'll support the day-to-day operation of a busy fresh fish warehouse, ensuring stock is handled accurately, safely, and efficiently. This is a hands‑on role involving stock movements, forklift operations, paperwork completion, and supporting warehouse activities across multiple areas of the business.

You will be responsible for:

• Allocating stock to customer orders and moving or stacking boxes of fresh fish
• Building, wrapping, and moving pallets both physically and through warehouse systems
• Completing allocation records, product weight paperwork, and intake/outload documentation
• Carrying out pre‑use MHE checks and safely loading and unloading trailers and rigid vehicles
• Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and warehouse housekeeping
• Supporting picking, coldstore, and other operational areas when required
• Assisting with warehouse cleaning activities, including deep cleaning of work areas and loading ramps

About you

A valid forklift licence and previous forklift experience within a chilled warehouse environment are essential for this role. Experience using mobile loading ramps would be beneficial but is not essential. You'll have good numeracy skills and basic reading and writing ability, along with strong attention to detail when handling paperwork and operating MHE equipment.
