Job summary

Greggs in Barry is hiring a Warehouse Operative to prepare orders for our shops. You will work with a close-knit team in a fast-paced environment, handling boxes, picking and packing, and ensuring products are loaded into the correct compartments—ambient, chill or frozen.

You will work in cold/frozen areas, with warm PPE provided, and you may be exposed to flour and dust. Training and support will help you grow in the role.

Qualifications

• Physical fitness for a physically demanding role.
• Experience with SAP systems is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and pick orders for shops.
• Pack and load products and ensure correct compartments.

Job description

Salary: £12.91 per hour plus various premium payments (at age 18). Typical annual earnings for a shift pattern that includes 40 day shift hours per week and weekend working would be in the region of £31,000. Actual earnings will depend exact shift pattern.

About the role

Join us as a Warehouse Operative and you'll be a key part of the Greggs Team, preparing orders for our shops to make sure they have all the products they need to keep our customers satisfied. You'll work with a great, close-knit team, in a fast-paced, high-performance environment where timescales and targets are important. You'll be handling boxes, picking and packing products, and pushing/pulling cages around the warehouse. You'll need to make sure our vehicles are at the right temperature ready to load, and products are loaded into the correct compartment; ambient, chill or frozen. Working in a food environment means that you could be exposed to flour and dust. You will also be expected to work in a chilled/frozen environment. We'll provide you with all the training and support you'll need to see your career rise.

About you

• To be comfortable working in a physical role, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling of cages, as well as other manual tasks
• To be able to work in cold/frozen areas of the warehouse (warm PPE will be provided)
• Be supportive of an inclusive culture - recognising and valuing that difference is good

Experience of using SAP systems would also be beneficial but isn’t essential.
