Job summary

Winsearch is seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager for our client in Rochdale, Greater Manchester. The role leads daily warehouse operations, driving safety, stock control and continuous improvement within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will manage a sizeable team, develop capabilities, monitor KPIs, and collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to optimise performance. Salary £45,000–£50,000 per annum, days based, permanent.

Qualifications

• Significant warehouse management experience within an FMCG environment.
• Proven ability to develop and lead a sizeable warehouse team.
• Strong knowledge of inventory management and stock control.

The Company

An established FMCG manufacturing business operating within a busy, fast-paced environment. The business has a strong focus on operational performance, safety, quality and developing efficient processes across its manufacturing and supply chain operations.

They are looking to recruit an experienced Warehouse Manager to take ownership of the warehouse operation, leading the team and supporting continued improvements across service, efficiency, stock management and operational standards.

The Role

The Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the warehouse, providing strong day-to-day leadership and ensuring the department delivers against the needs of the wider manufacturing operation.

You will manage the warehouse team, maintain strong standards across safety and quality, and ensure materials and finished goods are controlled effectively throughout the operation. A key part of the position will be identifying opportunities to improve performance, productivity and warehouse processes

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day warehouse operation and provide effective leadership to the team
• Lead, coach and develop warehouse employees to improve capability and performance
• Ensure stock is received, stored, controlled and despatched efficiently
• Maintain accurate inventory and ensure robust stock control processes are in place
• Ensure warehouse activity supports the requirements of the wider manufacturing operation
• Monitor performance against agreed warehouse and service KPIs
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, efficiency and operational performance
• Maintain high standards of health and safety throughout the warehouse
• Ensure operational processes meet required food safety and quality standards
• Manage labour effectively in line with operational demand
• Support the management and control of departmental costs
• Ensure warehouse equipment is maintained appropriately
• Develop working practices and procedures that support a consistent and efficient operation
• Work collaboratively with Supply Chain, Operations, Technical and other internal departments
• Lead and support continuous improvement activity within the warehouse
• Ensure employees receive appropriate training and development for their roles
• Maintain strong standards of housekeeping and operational discipline

The Person

• Significant warehouse management experience within an FMCG environment
• Proven experience managing and developing a sizeable warehouse team
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management and stock control
• Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment
• Strong understanding of health and safety within a warehouse setting
• Experience working within a quality-controlled FMCG environment
• Commercially aware with experience managing departmental costs and resources
• Confident using operational KPIs to monitor and improve warehouse performance
• Previous involvement in continuous improvement initiatives
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across different departments
• LEAN or 5S experience would be advantageous
• Right to Work in the UK
