Role Overview
Our globally renowned aerospace and defence client is seeking an experienced Warehouse Coordinator to support day-to-day warehouse, logistics and supply chain activities for the UK Chinook Programme in Gosport.
The role will be responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, control and dispatch of aircraft materials, tools, parts and equipment, whilst maintaining high standards of inventory accuracy, safety, quality and regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will coordinate stock movements and work closely with maintenance, project, procurement, planning, quality, logistics, suppliers and transport teams to support operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect and process incoming aircraft materials, parts, tools and equipment.
- Accurately store, label and control stock in accordance with established warehouse procedures.
- Pick, pack and dispatch materials against work orders, schedules and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory and stock records using SAP or warehouse management systems.
- Conduct stock checks, cycle counts and reconciliation activities to maintain inventory integrity.
- Coordinate the timely movement of materials between the warehouse, maintenance and project teams.
- Work closely with Procurement, Planning, Quality and Logistics to resolve shortages, stock discrepancies and urgent operational requirements.
- Identify, segregate and report damaged, missing or non-conforming materials as appropriate.
- Maintain warehouse documentation and support internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, quality and site security procedures.
- Support continuous improvement activities aimed at improving warehouse efficiency, accuracy and operational performance.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment where appropriately trained and authorised.
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within a warehouse, stores, logistics, materials or inventory control environment.
- Good understanding of stock receipt, storage, inventory control, picking, packing and dispatch processes.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and stock information.
- Experience using inventory management systems and general Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment and respond to changing priorities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Ability to follow established processes and maintain high standards of safety, quality and compliance.
- Previous experience within aerospace, defence, manufacturing or another highly regulated environment.
- Experience using SAP or comparable Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Experience conducting cycle counts, stock audits, reconciliation or kitting activities.
- Knowledge of transport, shipping or export documentation.
- Forklift or other material-handling equipment certification.
