Job summary

NCE Switchgear is seeking an experienced Storeperson to manage daily stores activities at our Clydebank site. You will handle goods in, stock checks, issuing materials to the shop floor and support the rollout of barcoding across stock. A keen eye for detail and forklift experience are essential.

The role involves maintaining ERP stock records and working with a small team to keep stores accurate and well organised, with on-site parking and a four‑day working week.

Qualifications

• A valid reach forklift truck licence is essential.
• A valid counterbalance forklift truck licence is desirable.
• Experience in stores or warehouse environment is essential.
• Confident using a computer to maintain stock records on an ERP system is essential.
• Experience with Sage 200 or other ERP systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Receiving material in and verifying goods against paperwork.
• Booking material onto stock system and shelving in correct locations.
• Issuing material to shop floor through stores pick process.
• Processing returns and stock locations.
• Carrying out stock checks and perpetual counts.
• Operating counterbalance and reach forklifts safely.
• Maintaining stock accuracy and stock records.
• Packing and preparing goods for despatch.
• Ensuring stores are clean, tidy and well labelled.

Job description

This is an opportunity for an experienced Storeperson to join a leading switchgear manufacturer at a point of real growth. Stores sits at the heart of our production process, and we are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in stock accuracy, tidy locations and getting the right material to the shop floor at the right time. Reporting to the Stores Lead, you will own the day-to-day running of goods in, picking, returns and stock checking, and play a key part as we introduce barcoding across the business.

Duties are a combination of, but not limited to;

• Receiving material in, checking incoming documentation and verifying goods delivered against delivery paperwork
• Booking material onto the stock system and shelving stock in the correct locations
• Issuing material to the shop floor through the Stores pick process
• Processing Stores returns and putting stock back into location correctly
• Carrying out stock checks and perpetual inventory counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
• Running the Stores counter, issuing consumables and parts to the shop floor over the counter
• Maintaining stock accuracy and keeping stock records up to date on the Sage 200 ERP system
• Packing and preparing goods for despatch
• Operating counterbalance and reach forklift trucks safely within the stores and yard areas
• Keeping the stores area clean, tidy and well organised, with stock stored safely and correctly labelled
• Ensuring safe and environmentally sound working practices are adhered to at all times
• Supporting the Stores Lead with all aspects of the stores process, including the ongoing rollout of barcoding across stock

Skills and Attributes:

• A valid reach forklift truck licence is essential
• Previous experience working in a stores or warehouse environment is essential, ideally four years or more
• Confident using a computer to maintain stock records accurately on an ERP system is essential
• Good attention to detail, particularly when checking deliveries against paperwork and counting stock
• A valid counterbalance forklift truck licence is desirable
• An organised approach to keeping stock locations accurate and tidy
• Able to work well as part of a small team and communicate clearly with the shop floor
• A strong awareness of health, safety and environmental responsibilities within a manufacturing environment
• Experience of Sage 200 or other ERP system is desirable
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is desirable
• Previous experience within an electrical, engineering or manufacturing environment is desirable
• Experience of barcoding or scanning-based stock control is desirable
• After 2 years service, eligible to join company private health care plan
