Job summary

British Heart Foundation in Banbury is hiring a Stockroom Assistant to support our busy furniture stores. The role is 14 hours per week across two days, with weekend and bank-holiday rota.

You will handle deliveries, keep stockroom tidy, stock shelves, and assist volunteers. The job is physical and requires teamwork and a proactive approach.

Qualifications

• Previous retail experience isn’t essential; we welcome keen individuals who like to keep things neat and tidy.
• Able to work well in a team and guide volunteers
• Able to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Attention to detail in all tasks
• Comfortable with manual handling and lifting large items

• Sort and move furniture and appliances delivered to our stores
• Keep the shop floor well stocked

The role is full/ part time for 14hours a week ( 2 days out of 7) in one of our busy furniture stores. Our stores are fast-paced and trade 7 days a week. This role requires flexibility to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

What does this role involve?

As a Stockroom Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our retail operation by sorting, checking and making the most out of the variety of donations we receive behind the scenes. This is not just a standing behind the till or filling shelves type of job. Join a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same and everyone works as a team to fund life‑saving research.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Handling and moving the delivery of furniture and appliances that arrive in our stores
• Ensuring the shop floor is always well stocked
• Working in line with safety regulations and promoting health, safety and wellbeing in everything you do
• Identifying unsaleable donations for recycling
• Keeping the stockroom organised and tidy

Please note, this role can be physical demanding and involves lifting large pieces of furniture.

You will be given lots of autonomy in your role and will strive to continually build your knowledge of BHF.

• Comfortable with a high level of hands on manual work that involves moving large items/volumes of stock
