Job summary

Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Ward Support Assistant on the Acute Floor to help with basic patient care, nutrition, and hydration, under the supervision of qualified nurses. You will support the MDT to ensure dignity and comfort in a relaxing dining environment and assist with ward cleanliness and infection control.

You will also handle administrative tasks, answer calls, and relay messages as part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to patient recovery

Qualifications

• Assist patients with eating and drinking according to care plans.
• Monitor and record food and fluid intake.
• Support infection control and ward cleanliness.
• Communicate with MDT and families with empathy.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with eating and drinking, meeting individual needs.
• Work with MDT to implement nutritional care plans and document intake.
• Order special diets and liaise with catering staff for menu choices.
• Weigh and measure patients per nutritional risk assessments.
• Support admin tasks and answer telephones.
