Job summary

Deputy Sister - St. Helen's Ward, an internal NHS role, requires leadership to safeguard high care standards. You will deputise for the Sister/Charge Nurse, supervise staff, and ensure patient safety in line with NMC codes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the NMC code and professional standards.
• Experience leading and supervising nursing staff.
• Ability to educate and develop a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, educate, train and develop the workforce within your area.
• Deputise for Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader to cover ward management in their absence.
• Provide effective clinical leadership and ensure high standards of nursing care.
• Be accountable for clinical standards of care and lead the department.
• Act up for Sister/Charge Nurse/Team Leader in their absence.
• Lead investigations of concerns related to poor clinical practice or staff management.
• Escalate any concern over care delivery as necessary.
• Identify staff development needs through appraisal and ongoing training.
• Plan and organise staffing and rosters to meet patient needs.
• Communicate effectively with MDT and maintain patient and relative support.
